Journal of Beat Studies
Volume 9, Fall  2021

NEW YORK, NY – Pace University Press is excited to announce the release of Journal of Beat Studies, Volume 9.

This issue is a solemn one due to the loss of many notable Beat writers and figures, including long-time editor Dr. Nancy M. Grace who has resigned as of this year. Nonetheless, we welcome Erik Mortenson, a faculty member at Lake Michigan College, as our new editor.

This peer-reviewed journal is edited by Ronna C. Johnson and Erik Mortenson.

Some articles included in this volume:

“’Take It Easier’: Joanne Kyger in Bolinas,” by Timothy Gray, a deep insight in Joanne Kyger’s role in the later half of the twentieth century with counterculture and poetry.

“Improvisation c. 1959: Beat Film,” by Katherine Kinney, exploring how cinema brought famous Beat’s narration to life, as with Ginsberg and Kerouac.
